For Museums, Societies & Events
Your collection deserves to be found.
Somewhere out there, people are searching for exactly what you offer. A family planning a day out. A researcher following a thread. A retired teacher looking for a local history group. A teenager who has just discovered they love the past. Every one of them is looking — and Experience History exists to make sure they find you.
Why it works
The UK's heritage, in one place. Your institution, at the heart of it.
The UK has one of the richest heritage landscapes on earth — and most of it goes undiscovered. Not because it isn't extraordinary. Because it isn't easy to find.
Experience History changes that. We bring museums, galleries, historic sites, living history events, and local history societies together in one dedicated, purpose-built platform — so that the people who love history can find every part of it, wherever they are, whatever they're looking for.
When you list with us, you're not just getting a directory entry. You're joining the most complete, most passionate home for UK heritage online.
Active Discovery
Our interactive map and directory pages are built for one thing: connecting history enthusiasts with the places and communities they've been looking for. Your institution appears exactly where curious people are already exploring.
Direct Traffic
Every featured listing links straight to your own website. Visitors who discover you here are already engaged — one click away from booking a visit, exploring your collection, or signing up as a member.
Search Visibility
Experience History's pages are indexed by Google. When someone searches for museums, societies, or events in your area, our listings appear in those results — and yours is among them.
A Community That Cares
We don't treat heritage organisations as advertisers. We treat them as the whole point. Every institution on this platform — from the British Museum to a three-room volunteer collection — is here because what they hold matters.
Listing options
Find your place on the platform
Basic listings are always free. A featured listing gives your organisation the space to tell its story properly — with photography, a description, and priority placement in front of the people already looking.
Free for everyone: All museums are included in our directory and on the interactive map as a basic listing — name, location, category, and region. Local history societies and events can also submit for free via our listing forms.

Your organisation, found everywhere
History enthusiasts are already searching. Be where they look.
When someone types "museums near me" or "local history groups in [county]", they're not browsing casually. They're ready to visit, to join, to attend. Experience History's directory pages are built and optimised to appear in exactly those searches — with your listing on the page when they arrive.
Every featured listing connects directly to your own website. No middlemen, no paywalls between your audience and your door. The people who find you here are self-selecting: they came looking for heritage, and they found you.
That's not an accidental click. That's the right person, at the right moment, discovering exactly what you do.
FAQ
Common questions
Is my organisation already listed?
We have over 3,600 museums and heritage sites already in our database — so there's a good chance your institution has a basic listing. A featured upgrade gives you the photography, description, website link, and priority placement to make it count.
What does a featured listing include?
A fully branded card with a landscape banner photograph, a description of up to 220 characters, a direct link to your website, and priority placement above basic entries in every search result. For museums, you also get a richer interactive map popup — your photo and website link, right there when someone finds you on the map.
Can I submit for free?
Yes — always. Every museum already has a free basic listing on the directory and interactive map. Local history societies and heritage events can also be submitted for free. A featured listing adds the photography, description, and visibility that makes the real difference.
I run a small volunteer-led organisation. Is this still for me?
It's especially for you. The organisations doing the quietest, most important work in heritage — single-room museums, archive groups, volunteer-run societies, local history communities — are the ones this platform was built to support. Our pricing reflects that. And a free basic listing means there's no barrier to being part of it.
How quickly will my listing go live?
We review all submissions within 48 hours. Featured listings with confirmed payment are typically published within 24 hours. If we need anything from you, we'll be in touch before publishing.
